The newest Blackberry on the block, and first with a touch screen, is the Storm 9500. This is said to be a iPhone rival do to it's touch screen. The question is will it stand up
Ready2Beat.com has put together a small run down of features on teh new storm.
Excellent Music Quality: It's not just video which can be streamed to your Storm either, as the phone accepts streaming audio too. A Superb Camera: The Storm's camera is a 3.2 megapixel item and has both a flash unit and autofocus to take the sharpest pictures possible. Social Networking on BlackBerry Storm: You can access Facebook or MySpace and orkut profile easily in stome that not need to access your personal computer. Fantastic Business Tools: The Storm may include every cool multimedia function in order to attract those who don't want to use the phone for work, but RIM made their name by providing just about the best mobile office handset on the market and the Storm is no exception. Touchscreen: Touted as a 'clickable' touchscreen, it's supposed to feel like you're actually pressing a physical button rather than an unresponsive gl screen when using the Storm, which RIM claim makes the experience far more interactive and user-friendly than expected. Fast Processor and Upgradeable Memory power: The new advance technology is involved thus high speed microprocessors and memory are inbuilt in Blackberry Storm 9500. Enjoy this fast device as compare to previous mobiles of Blackberry. Screen Size and Battery Life: The Storm's touchscreen is 3.25 inches and displays a resolution of 360×480 and 65,000 colours. The battery, which will be removable and therefore user-replaceable, offers a quoted 360 hours standby and over 5 hours talktime.
Is the Storm 9500 able to stand up to the iPhone? Well some people, like Techradar.com, feel that it could but it has to be able to stand up on it's own. ...[w]hether the Storm has done enough to topple the iPhone is very much in the balance. Performance is excellent: voice calls are clear, email is handled seamlessly and battery life is good for a push email HSDPA device. Add to that the potential of the upcoming Application Storefront and generally swish looks, and things appear rosy for RIM.
The real question is whether the innovative ClickThrough touchscreen will be welcomed with willing fingers, and whether issues over menu responsiveness and the accelerometer are dealt with swiftly. If not, frustration will win out, and the Storm may well blow over...
Only time will tell if the Blackberry Storm 9500 will be able to take a piece of the iPhone market |
